Carnarvon is a town located in the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia, approximately 900 kilometers north of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Carnarvon is a popular tourist destination as it is surrounded by many tourist attractions such as the rugged coastline, the beautiful beaches, the stunning plant life, and the fascinating marine life.

One of the main attractions of Carnarvon is the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum which was established in 2000. The museum showcases the town’s contribution to the space race by displaying a range of fascinating items including the OTC Satellite Earth Station and the Gemini space suit worn by astronaut Neil Armstrong on his 1969 moonwalk.

Carnarvon is also known as the “fruit bowl” of Western Australia, thanks to its bountiful fruits and vegetables which are grown in the Gascoyne River Valley. The town is renowned for its bananas, grapefruits, mangoes and tomatoes which are exported to various parts of Australia.

Another interesting fact about Carnarvon is that it has its very own microclimate which is different from the harsh desert conditions that exist in other parts of Western Australia. The town has a mild, semi-arid climate with winter temperatures rarely falling below 10°C and summer temperatures averaging in the high 20s and low 30s.

Lastly, Carnarvon is an important location for both the fishing and agriculture industries, with the town having the largest fishing fleet in Western Australia. The fishermen of Carnarvon catch a variety of seafood including prawns, crabs, squid and many species of fish. The agricultural industry of Carnarvon provides fresh produce all year round which is sold to many parts of Western Australia.
